National Media to Simultaneously Cybercast and BroadcastLive Interactive Shopping Show
Everything4Less Show is First Interactive Shopping Show to be Simulcast
via Internet Video and Network Radio
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- National Media Corporation (NYSE: NM) today announced that it will launch The Everything4Less Show, a live, interactive shopping program cybercast worldwide via the Internet and broadcast across the United States via network radio. It will be the first program of its kind to be simultaneously cybercast real-time over the Internet and broadcast over live network radio.
Broadcast.com (Nasdaq: BCST) will host and provide the real-time, streaming video for The Everything4Less Show, which can be accessed via the broadcast.com home page (www.broadcast.com) and directly accessed via its shopping channel (www.broadcast.com/shopping/).
The Everything4Less Show, scheduled to launch in the first calendar quarter of 1999, will marry electronic commerce and entertainment programming. It will feature "blow-out" prices on name brand products in an entertaining and fast-paced talk radio format.
"The Everything4Less Internet/Radio Show incorporates our strategic alliance with broadcast.com with the strengths and broadcast expertise of the other members of our investor group," said Stephen C. Lehman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of National Media. "Cybercasting of talk radio programs is the next evolution of the format. The Web viewer's ability to interact and participate in a show in real time will become as integral a part of the format as telephone callers have been. This cyber-radio simulcast hybrid is a perfect vehicle for easily and cost-effectively leveraging and promoting our e-commerce platform."
Mark Cuban, president of broadcast.com, said, "We are very excited to work with National Media to create the first streaming video cybercast to be simultaneously broadcast over network radio. Broadcast.com's ability to reach the largest streaming media audience on the Internet and our implementation of broadband video make this breakthrough hybrid a terrific combination."
Randy Michaels, Chief Executive Officer of Jacor Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: JCOR), which owns, operates, or represents 244 radio stations, said, "This is a great opportunity for us to help create a business platform which incorporates our investments in both broadcast.com and National Media under one umbrella. Our merger with Clear Channel Communications will enable National Media to access the strengths of Premiere Radio Networks along with our owned and operated radio stations."
