<< Nice improvement on TDFX/STBI today. A little pre-earnings anticipation perhaps. >>

What catches my interest is that STBI is almost trading at the proposed 0.65 buyout ratio (0.635 as of close today). This is quite a jump (IMO) from the typical 0.56 that it's been floundering around since the announcement. STBI's volume is up significantly, too.

I've been wondering what's driving all this. One thought I've had is that TDFX has become attractive (for whatever reason), but that STBI has become even more so since it has been trading at a discount relative to its "intrinsic TDFX value." As a result, the demand for STBI stock has driven its price up so that there's now only a slight gap to the buyout ratio representing the uncertainty that the deal will complete.

This is all pretty much a WAG on my part. Anyone care to comment?
