The details of the agreement are confidential but call for the termination of the existing distribution agreement and ongoing relationship between the companies. The original agreement, dating back to 1990, allowed Unisys to distribute one of the Eastman Software workflow products under its private brand.
''We believe the termination of this agreement will have a positive impact on the products, customers, partners, and strategies for Eastman Software in the work management marketplace,'' stated Michael Loria, Vice President of Marketing for Eastman Software. Eastman Software distributes its products through a global partner network that provides value-added services such as design, deployment, customization, training and support. Eastman Software also provides a global infrastructure for product support with support centers located in the U.S., Europe and Australia. ''We find that customers and partners in the high-end business software market prefer the direct support of the actual software developer and to that end Eastman Software is uniquely qualified. Our capabilities exceed all others in this marketplace,'' stated Loria.
As a result of the termination of this agreement, Eastman Software can now enhance the Workflow for NT product line free from the obligation of providing those unique enhancements to the Unisys private branded version. This will enable Eastman Software partners to have a truly differentiated and unique product offering, eliminating the conflict with Unisys.
