The coals are heating up out back, short one...
I'll tell you what. I drove the Suburban off road once. In Colorado. I was skiing at Wolf Creek. When it was time to leave, I headed for the car and a couple of girls, who had parked somewhere close by, could not get their car started. They asked if I was headed to the South Fort side, which I was, and could they get a ride to their Uncles' house.
Well, as things worked out, I gave them a lift. We got to the edge of their property, and there was a 1/3 mile long driveway up to the house. It was packed powder. BUT, when the lil burb was up on that packed powder, I got about 50 yards from the road and plump! All 4 wheels suddenly broke thru the packed powder, seeking dirt. Now, all I can say when your vehicle's underside is touching the packed powder, your four wheel drive is pretty worthless. It becomes 4 wheel spin. Weirdest thing I'd ever seen. I left the car in gear, got out, and watched all four wheels spinning with the engine idling.
