Thanks 4 reducing me to a cultural stereotype, and resorting to the "R" word. Actually, I'm a former 60's radical, with a history of civil disobedience back several decades. I was a part of the Lettuce Boycott (not exactly a fundimentalist activity) while most of my peers focused on sports, drinking and screwing.
A precident to be very concerned with is using involuntarily donated human tissue for anything. Where do you stop? Where does the end stop justifying the means? Which elitists set the moral framework? The same ones who propose waiting until several days after birth until tests show the child has enough biological potential to be allowed to live? Who decides what an acceptable quality of life is. Big issue with me (I almost went into special ed, and have a son with multiple disabilities)
Eugenics also has historically had nasty tie-ins with Eugenics. And don't say that's in the past. International Planned Parenthood was a key player in the formation of China's one child policy. Tell me, what does forced and cooerced abortions and steralizations have to do with the stated goals of: the right to choose, privacy, control of a woman's own body, reproductive freedom... ?
IPP supports it and we don't condemn it cause after all, they're non-aryian (before you blow off the racism connection, get a copy of "Pivot of Civilization" by margret Sanger, the most racist, elitist work I have ever read. Racism is a major issue with me. Growing up, half my frients were black, hispanic or jewish. I have two children with heritage from both sides of the Sahara (labeled euphamistically since the concept race a cultural rather than physiological issue. I've lived in integrated neighborhoods for years.
Canabalism in any form freightens me. Soylent Green anyone?
No I won't start a thread to debate with you. You resorted to the demonize the messanger rhetorical move in your 1st paragraph, and with the other public consumption parroted in your post, I don't anticipate an honest, constructive dialogue.
I did not editorialize/preach in my 1st post on the subject and had not planned on starting a debate. This will be my last post on the subject if you back off. I think discussing biotechs and investment disciplines would be a MUCH more productive use of our time. Scott
Sorry, Dude, I realize this is not the direction you planned. I found Mike's post very innappropriate. The vigerous response was designed to cut off further off future off-topic debate (religion or politics type stuff) and labeling of posters.
