Some 1996 discussion on regulation.
daily.stanford.org

***snippet******
After successfully activating the gene, the researchers tested what happened if the activator was disassembled again. "We then made two halves of the ligand and added those to the cells," Crabtree said. The two separate ends of the ligands bind to the respective portions of the two activator domains and quickly replace the previous, intact ligands.

After binding to the split ligands, the two domains fall apart and render the activator dysfunctional. Transcription of the regulated gene is halted within minutes.

"Transcription of the regulated gene is halted within minutes."
Pretty cool.
Am I blind, or has this not been discussed here? I don't recall that ARIAD has discussed *near immediate* deactivation of gene expression-- without resorting to apoptosis. Anyone know if they are working on it?

Cheers to all!
