Interesting to read everyone's reactions, today.
The ONSL staff is still not selling.
There is more to come. Notice how the "dual" "atcost" and "OnSale Auction" links are presented on the start page now?
Very similar to ISN and First Auction, and Egghead and Surplus Direct.
Does this make it easier to assimilate others?
Earnings-revenues reports? The revenue projection is on target with estimates for the fourth quarter. The 1998 annual revenue goal of $200+ million will be met. What other OnLine commerce company, particularly auctions, is doing that much business.
Check it out.
I may be wrong.
Also, reduction of losses compared to revenues may surprise us all in February, continuing previous trends.
Availability of computer products (particularly distressed merchandise) was short to everyone. That's the sign of a healthy computer business category.
OnSale is now moving to a format that can offset the peaks and valleys of that problem. But, it's also a "me-too" concept. It is not the primary focus of their future. How many places can you go OnLine to buy computer products? Thousands, including the manufacturers themselves.
OnSale is internally focusing on improving their per transaction return, and successfully. More value to fewer bidders, increases the per transaction value and significantly improves profit.
OnSale still has several surprises in the next 30 days, in my opinion.
Watch for dramatic things like fine jewelry auctions, collectibles auctions, etc.
There are vendors who are preparing such offers as starting bid $1.00 for a $50,000 certified gemstone.
What about auctioning an island?
The promotions could be tremendous.
Who knows.
