The company has established a U.S. company to focus on
the Internet's World Wide Web implementation
technologies for enterprise-wide applications using IBM's
SanFrancisco project. The focus of this company will begin
with the implementation of mission-critical applications
such as Oriole's PowerTouch financial management system.
OrioleSystems.com will take advantage of the evolution of
the largest and fastest growing segments in the
application software markets using the SanFrancisco
development framework in conjunction with other
web-based technologies such as visual design and content
management, to provide comprehensive networking,
e-commerce, and web-based supply chain applications.
Frank Stama, formerly vice-president of U.S. operations, is
appointed CEO of the new company. OrioleSystems.com
will assume responsibility for the company's relationship
with IBM for the SanFrancisco development framework;
with NCompass Labs for the Resolution visual web content
management and development product; and with
Diversified Business Systems for supply chain and Internet
service provider support. These companies, along with
several others, will partner with OrioleSystems.com to
provide comprehensive services to end-users of Oriole's
products.
The opportunity in the information technology market will
be the ability to deliver comprehensive networked
enterprise-wide systems directly to the middle market or
indirectly, through business partners, to Fortune 500
companies. The traditional market for these application
systems is presently dominated by software companies
such as SAP, Oracle, Baan and Peoplesoft. However, the
new implementations of Cyberspace are redefining these
markets in a way that no one company is dominant in the
long-term and many new opportunities exist in what were
traditional application markets.
