Greg, here are my thoughts on the cuts. I almost posted this on the Intel thread, because I was so anxious to respond to this quote from the article:

This is where Cyrix and AMD are in a real difficult position. Intel with it's incredible manufacturing capabilities can simply cut prices on it's low end chips, while simultaneously racking in huge profits on it's high end chips. If Intel is ever truly threatened, they will just slash prices beyond the ability of AMD or Cyrix to make a profit.

That was then, this is now(AMD and Cyrix are at Intel's high end). Do you think Intel will be able to slash prices beyond the ability AMD and Cyrix to make a profit, especailly considering they(AMD and Cyrix) have Klamath equivalent parts? Not a chance. Intel has never been matched so near the top of the their performance curve. If Intel wants to try to affect the profitabilty of Cyrix and AMD, more power to them, but God help Intel's shareholders. It would be far wiser for Intel to concede market share, if the other option is 35% margins. The analysts would certainly not like that.:-) Maybe they should take a look at their capital spending plans.
