As Ausdauer has pointed out that MMC's storage needs to be higher than 16MB. Next year is too late. Sandisk needs to speed it up. SmartMedia has been shipping at 32MB level for a while, and I am not sure if it goes even higher than that. 16MB will not cut it. FLASH space is like CPU speed in the early days, the more the better.

As for CompactFLASH, I am disapointed to read ''A 20MB CompactFlash card that sold at retail for $200 a year ago will be priced at under $50 a year from now.''. SmartMedia has been around this $50 price since last year.

It is clear to say that SmartMedia is better priced than CompactFLASH and has higher storage than MMC. If I were a manufacture, I wouldn't see any advantage going with either one of Sandisk's products.
