Brian and thread, _____ Microsoft NZ sales rise to be aided by E-commerce WELLINGTON, Jan 20 (Reuters) - Microsoft New Zealand said on Wednesday that it expected its sales to grow by 20 to 30 percent in the current financial year to June 30, 1999. This was due to a strong performance in sales of Windows NT Server, Windows NT Workstation, Microsoft Office and server applications, managing director Geoff Lawrie said in a statement. Sales of Windows NT had continued to strengthen as New Zealand businesses moved to the more robust business operating system, Microsoft New Zealand said. Lawrie said he expected the Internet to be a major growth area for Microsoft New Zealand, based on electronic commerce. "We have been doing a lot of work with the banks and the government to put in place the foundation for more secure electronic commerce in New Zealand," he said. "The results of our efforts are starting to come through and we believe it will all add up to a good year for us." The New Zealand business unit of Microsoft MSFT.O gave no hard sales or profit data in the statement.
