This and that

Since June of 98 insiders including Ken Spencer, Barry Jinks, Martin McConnell, Brian Lowe and most of the directors and senior officers have bought or exercised options on over 130,00 shares most at over $7C..ie they must know something...very bullish sign. Most recent buys as recent as Nov.

Nice bio and picture of BJ

Multi-talented volunteer Barry Jinks keeps in tune with the BC science
and technology community ‹ running a successful company, chairing
committees and serving on boards ‹ and still has time to play with his
family.

You¹d think that running one of BC¹s fastest-growing high tech companies would rule out significant volunteer activities. But for Barry Jinks, President and CEO of Spectrum Signal Processing, that isn¹t the case. He chairs the BC Advanced Systems Institute Board and is a member of the BC Technology Industries Association¹s "Voice of the Industry" Council as well as the provincially-funded Science Council and several of its committees. Not only that, but as father (with Linda) to Cameron (13) and Matthew (9), he even finds time to be a Cub leader. He¹s an avid skier and golfer, plays drums in a company jazz combo and enjoys woodworking in his home workshop.

In just ten years, Mr. Jinks and his staff ‹ now more than 170 strong ‹
have made Spectrum the world¹s leading supplier of digital signal
processing (DSP) systems. Customers include Nortel, Hewlett Packard and NEC. In the nine months ending September 30,1997, company revenue
exceeded $25 million. Also during 1997, the firm acquired a Scottish DSP company, 3L Limited. And now, Spectrum is planning a 1999 move into larger premises in Burnaby¹s Lake City industrial area.

"The Science Council is broadly representative of the science and
technology community. So our discussions on issues are always lively and constructive," he says. "Over the years, it has helped many companies ‹ ours included ‹ achieve success, and it should be proud of that. And it¹s not just the financial assistance, welcome though that always is. Through its rigorous peer review process, the Science Council is an industry mentor, providing valuable advice that even unsuccessful applicants can use to their advantage."

We should add that Spectrum recently appointed Creo Products co-founder and former Science Council Board member Dr. Ken Spencer to chair its Board of Directors. Congratulations, Dr. Spencer, and thanks, Mr. Jinks, for serving on our Board. Volunteers like you are what make science and technology in BC a continuing success.

"Can anyone please explain the meaning of this lawsuit in more simple
terms and the likely implications if any? Thanks in advance."

I am not an attorney but it sounds like there is a disagreement between Alexs' parent company and Spectrum over money. The numbers on the surface don't seem large but I will see if I can get any more info.
