I think from an aesthetic standpoint, Solar and Fuel Cells win hands down. Two big US windpower sites are in Altamont and Tehachapi California. As I have a small property in the Techachapi mountains, my observations are firsthand. It is fascinating to see the large fans torpidly turning in the sun. Otherworldly. Unattractive. They also have a reputation for chewing up Red-tailed Hawks. I look forward to continuing progress in solar cell efficiency and cost reduction, continued growth in wind power, and perhaps even ocean wave power, which was a concept Popular Science was highlighting a decade or so ago. Visualize power generated by wave action: continual, non-climate dependant. Wave action doesn't stop, unlike wind, (although Techachapi's winds can seem so constant as to feel really unpleasant.) It could provide great byproducts: immediately adjacent to the electrical generation could be the electrolysis of water thereby providing Hydrogen for fuel cells, Oxygen and the recovery of vast quantities of strategic minerals. Now, I have not read of this wave/electricity idea recently, but if anyone else is aware of present progress in this area I would welcome input. (And promise to take it off this thread.) Bill
