Brazil's Malan to speak shortly at New York Fed

NEW YORK, Jan 20 (Reuters) - U.S. commercial bank leaders were seen exiting a meeting with Brazilian Finance Minister Pedro Malan at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Malan is expected to issue a brief statement shortly, a New York Fed spokesman said.

Renowned international financier George Soros, Goldman Sachs co-chairman Jon Corzine, Merrill Lynch chief executive David Komansky and Citigroup vice chairman Bill Rhodes were among those that left the Fed building and declined comment to reporters.

Malan was expected to continue meeting with U.S. central bankers for another 20 to 40 minutes before making a statement.
