Jay....Personally I avoid bubbles like the internet mania because I have no rational way to analyze them. However, getting in before the bubble expands much is a different matter..A low cost basis is a wonderful security blanket, but it can also lull and blind you to opportunities to sell at a great profit. From a purely rational standpoint what you paid for a stock shouldn't enter into decisions about when to sell. I have found that this is a rule that is easier to state than to follow.
I will continue to watch SAP, and maybe buy it back at some later date.I still think that the company has a good future, and at the right price and right time it will be a buy again. It's possible that today's minor penetration of the support is a trap, and that my sale will be very close to the low. It wouldn't be the first time. However in today's world of cheap commissions and low bid ask spreads the cost of getting in again isn't too high. Meanwhile I'll use the proceeds elsewhere.
