Firm Installs Card-Activated Points Of Service
In the low-value transaction market, a traditionally under- penetrated area for credit cards, one company has doubled its credit card-activated points of service. Wayne, Pa.-based USA Technologies [USTT] announced Jan. 6 that by the end of 1998, it had approximately 1, 000 points of distribution nationwide that offered the company's patented credit card-activated business services; an increase of 156 percent as compared to the end of 1997. Company officials report the strong growth was fueled by sales of its Business Express family of products. The company's TransAct technology enables secure credit card activation of a variety of business products, including Mail Boxes Etc.'s MBE Business Express, a 24-hour self-service business center. TransAct allows consumers to purchase items with their credit cards that cost as little as a dollar. George Jensen, Jr., chairman and CEO of USA Technologies, says the company is forecasting in excess of $10 million in revenue over the next 12 months for its product line in the hospitality markets alone. The company's mission is to enable businesses to dramatically lower their requisite minimums for credit card purchases. (George Jensen, Jr., USA Technologies, 800/633- 0340.) |
