It's interesting. If Intel maintains its current PE of 18.0 (trailing twelve months) and reports at the consensus estimate in January (4.09 for the year) the stock should trade at 72. If it maintains this 18.0 PE throughout 1996 and meets the consensus estimate of 5.06 for 1996 the stock should trade at 91. What amazes me is that Intel is carrying a multiple just slightly higher than Chevron! With commitments for new plants in Israel, Ireland, and now China, and with PC demand expected to triple world wide in the next five years, go figure! I did notice in the Journal yesterday that Intel is the fourth most "shorted" stock on NASDAQ. Did anyone else see that? What Intel needs is for one "high powered" analyst to break away from the herd and communicate this company's value and its potential. Alas, there is none in sight.
