OT Selling Public Land
(My last OT post for the Dell thread today)

The Forest Service spends more building and maintaining logging roads then they get in fees from that logging.
Then I say quit building the roads.

Have you seen what grazing, logging and mining are doing to public lands?
I say, repeal those leasing laws. Just let the land sit a while. In the next few hundred years large tracts of open land are going to be very hard to find, worldwide. I think the grandkids would be well served if some of those tracts were here in the U.S. Selling the public lands just so the current crop of citizens can spend the money is a very poor investment. The best way to keep the land for them is to just leave it alone for the next few hundred years. Chances are the grandkids would get a lot better price if they decide to sell. In the mean time the U.S. is not a poor country and we can find other ways to keep the Geritol bottles filled.
