ZP, let me know when you solve your CDROM problem and I'll do the same. No luck yet. Will try new cable, different CDROM next.

Worse yet, my old system died this morning. One LONG>>>>> beep. Hope it is just the memory simm popping out of the socket. Didn't have time to check this morning. All suggestions for checking it out are very welcome! System has power, disk spins, but no POST. Just a repeating 2-3 second long beep. CPU fried? MB fried? Memory fried?

I just installed an APS Back-UP UPS 2 days ago. This is just too coincidental. I sure hope it has not fried my system. Anyone have experience with UPS devices? Have they been helpful or just caused power problems?

P.S. I just called ABIT and they suggested unplugging the hard drive and plugging the CDROM into the primary disk cable (where we know both the disk and cable work) to verify the CDROM can be seen on the primary IDE port. If not, the CDROM may be bad.
