Richard: A rational move and I agree with you on the outlook for those stocks. But in a valuation correction of the market, everything goes down and some things go down more than others. These semi equipment stocks will get hammered regardless of the fundamentals and their beta will take them down more than they deserve. I remember in the fall, INTC preannounced greater than expected earnings and it still got hammered although the trend was there for all to see if one had their eyes open.

IMO, the large cap semi equips have become the internuts for the institutions since the beginning of the year because of their larger floats. High RSI means Big Mo is there on a price appreciation basis only. No mo' price appreciation and goodbye for Big Mo.

I don't recall a correction of the overall market in the 1997 run-up and so I do not know how these puppies would react in such an environment. I do know that these stocks made their last lows in the past two cycles when the overall market bottomed in a correction. Beta power!!! I also believe that because of the liquidity surge, there has been an accelerated run-up in prices for this group which has, since the end of the year, fed off itself.
