Interesting viewpoint. Can you outline why you think customers might have been scarce for Dell in particular? It sounds like you are implying that the non-direct vendors bought more PII's than ever and are faced with a huge 'stuffed' channel. IDC numbers will be out shortly and should give us a better indication of what is going on. Have you changed your view of PC makers recently, or are you one of those Hank McNabb types??? I assume you have heard of Hank, if not, he is/was a funeral director that was all over the Dell thread a couple years back stating how he was selling options and shorting Dell, and that we should not worry as he had 'substantial resources' to withstand a sustained rise. I believe he stated that he was also shorting AOL at the same time. Frankly, I have a hard time seeing how anyone shorting these big quality techs has settled for more than crumbs (and that only with good timing) while the longs sit back and make big money....

PS - I read you are also down on AMAT. I'm long since 28. Are you a contrary indicator??? <ggg> As for the trade I outlined in my original post, it seems a pretty good bet that one would make money on a short term trade, buying Dell on the theory that we have discussed... Working well so far...
