John, What I am saying is that sales to distributors were huge, but the only thing they sold was the cheap Celery, AMD, and Cyrix boxes under $1000. The PII crap is what the warehouses are bulging with and why all of the major distributors have reported lousy eps and revenues. However, since when Intel and MSFT dump their crap on a boxmaker, it is a sale, even if nobody buys it, their numbers are not indicative of what is going on. Nor are Compaq's.

Dell, which sells mainly to businesses, has no channel to stuff, and it is no secret businesses were not buying last quarter. Dell may well be able to overcome that by gaining tremendous market share in a declining market. I don't think so, but it is possible. As opposed to Gateway and MUEI, who are basically home box sellers. The home market was decent in units, though it was one of the worst years ever in sales as measured in dollars. Dell needs a decent business pc market.

I had never heard of Hank McNabb until you told me. Ever heard of Pollyanna? Or the three monkeys? <G>

I actually have a mildly bullish spread conversion on in Dell as I expected the Xmas lies to push it up. However, I want that turkey out of here before they warn.
