JVLN.. I would not have gone short but that is because I don't ever short stocks. JVLN did not exhibit the "anticipatory upswing" that I expected from it in the manner that VRTS,COGIF,MMCN,LGTO,LXK did It was great a couple of weeks ago however.. and it was in the newsletter for about 4 weeks but now it was not as impressive. I am starting to wonder if the malaise exhibited by both CREE and JVLN were similar and that this malaise is probably a significant indicator of the final outcome.

But remember the whole purpose of 'earnings plays' is not holding through earnings but catching that 'anticipatory upswing' before it reports. If it's there fine, depending on how strong it is you can decide if you want to hold through earnings like I did with XIRC or if it peters out you might want to take profits.

That is why some stocks that are 'earnings plays' don't trigger buy signals at all right before earnings, although like FORE and AMD might trigger buy signals 1 or 2 weeks before their earnings come out and still others might pop after the report on no anticipation. Those are the easiest you just wait for a net to catch it.. There were a couple of those this season CMVT was one and SLR was the other..
