Global DataTel Completes Restructuring with Merger of Two New Units
POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Global DataTel (OTC Bulletin Board: GDIS) today announced it has completed its corporate restructuring with the addition of two computer services subsidiaries to strengthen its focus in the Latin American market, said Richard Baker, CEO of Global.
As part of its restructuring focusing on IBM business partners, Global has merged MES, Ltda, a computer integration company in Bogota, Colombia into the Andean Group of Global DataTel de Columbia; and merged International Computer Resources, an IBM business partner in Pompano Beach, FL, into the United States Group of Global DataTel USA, said Mr. Baker.
MES, Ltda has been serving the Colombian marketplace for more than 16 years, and is considered one of the largest third party service providers in Colombia.
International Computer is considered a leader in storage products, such as disk drives, tape drives, DVD-CD, Awis Raid storage devices. International Computer distributes products from IBM, Compaq, Seagate and Quantum. Gross revenues for 1998 were in average of $4 million.
"This restructuring allows us to focus on geographic regions within the Americas to better manage our growing acquisition strategy," said Mr. Baker. The company also has a Central American Group, encompassing Global DataTel de Nicaragua.
Global DataTel is the Latin American leader in medium to large system integration projects. Global offers continent-wide information system expertise in such diverse areas as inter/intranet implementation, E-commerce, enterprise resource planning and Y2K testing and compliance.
Global's 1-for-2 stock split associated with the company's name change from Gold Coast Resources on Dec. 15, 1998, has been completed, said Mr. Baker. Additionally, the following management appointments were announced: Antonio Serrato, Vice President/Latin America as Vice President/COO; with responsibilities on sales of more than $50 million in revenue in the area. Mr. Serrato worked with IBM for 25 years and after retiring became manager in a computer company in Colombia with more than 80 employees and eight branches throughout the company.
Also, Michael DeMarie was named Treasurer/CFO of Global.
