This is the plan they laid out at the last conference call.

They said they expected to sell the fab off by June (if I remember properly), so the early sale is good news. They also has already announced that there would be a write-off, so the write-off was already factored into the stock price.

Orbit should be in a better position to compete as a 'fabless' operation, provided they still have some good people left from all the turmoil of the last two years. I still don't understand the synergy that Orbit brings to DII Group, but at least now Orbit can't hurt them too bad anymore... the bad news is out.

The big remaining questions are:

How is Dovatron doing in landing some of the big new business in outsourcing assembly work? Dovatron is a true global assembler, and should be able to compete for some of this work. It will be interesting to hear how the Nortel Networks (Bay Networks) business has panned out.

How are Multek's expansions and acquisitions in Austin, China, and Germany going?

We get to hear more at the conference call the morning of Jan 28th.
