Any power engineers out there? I have a question about the output of SPS's (stand-by power supplies).

It's my understanding the three types of power output are square wave, stepped square wave and sine wave.

My question has to do with today's faster CPU's, busses, etc. If that kind of computer is being provided its power from an SPS that has a stepped square wave output, is the computer at greater risk than it would be if it were getting sine wave power?

Hope this makes sense, my wife is calling me for dinner so I don't have time to try to make my question clearer.

TIA - Emory
