<< I'm sure the word "cultural" is not entirely appropriate, but all things considered it's the best I could come up with. >>

I grew up in the SF Bay Area and have lived in the D/FW Metroplex for the past ten years. No doubt there are major cultural differences between the two. It would take decades to bridge the cultural gap between them. However, this is the 90's and (my personal belief) is that geography really doesn't make that much of a difference to the WAY business is conducted anymore, especially in the tech sector. I'd venture to guess that the majority of the officers of the companies we're immediately concerned about aren't even FROM the regions that their respective firms are headquartered.

My point is that while the issue of "cultural differences" has some validity, from a business standpoint it is not as much as one who hasn't experienced both geographical regions firsthand might be led to believe. My other point was that 3Dfx management should allow STB to run things as they have, because they've spent years developing these relationships and 3Dfx would be ill-advised to change them since they don't really know their new play-partners' quirks and habits as well as the STB staff.
