I couldn't agree with you more about market makers being in bed with other. I worked some time ago at what was the largest market maker in the country and knew exactly which market makers were as you say "in cahoots". Have not been an active trader in some time, but starting to dabble again.
Interesting article in this month's Worth magazine about NITE and how they only lost money three days in the last two years. That's about 500 trading days, no one is that lucky or that good. There is money to be made in trading but don't fool yourself into thinking that you can beat market makers at their own game, the deck is stacked against you.
