Gregg, all: Clayton Christensen's "Innovator's Dilemma . . ." is discussed at some length in a Forbes profile of Christensen in the current issue. [the one with Andy Grove and Christensen on the cover]
It is interesting that Grove [and other business leaders] pay this Harvard Biz Prof humongous bucks to challenge their thinking and to identify as many of the potential threats to their mainstream business that might arise from these pesky little critters as possible. Forbes gave many examples including an infamous quote from a railroad exec: "diesel engines will never replace steam" (a few years before diesel eliminated the steam engine).
Ashamed to say that I didn't even think of the Mighty Q as I read through the piece. But that's exactly what CDMA must have looked like to Ericy: a diesel engine. Good reading. SM
