We're talking about middleware...
Let's put this is perspective...this is not intended to diminish the importance of Cloverleaf or it's value in the marketplace, but it is just a facilitator type of addition to the deal, not the deal it's self. MQSeries and message brokers are in play because they make the big sale happen. Someone is usually buying a major application, that will be running on a bunch of iron all of which is going to make someone a bunch of money. Or they are engaging a service partner for a big project with lots of service fees to be earned.
The problem always comes up as to "how will you handle communications" and the salesman flat out doesn't care, because he feeds his family or pays for his Porsche on the big sale components, not the piece we are debating here. If the decision has been made by his company that it is "X" in this vertical then "X" it is...it won't move the needle enough, from a commission perspective to matter one iota to the sales rep. In 99 times out of 100, the answer will be, "We have created a seamless, plug and play compatibility between Cloverleaf and MQS, are there any other questions?"
He isn't going to add this battle to his list of problems and fight his company's directive, except in maybe one situation. That situation is where the buyer has received a poor reference or experience with a particular ancillary product and it could jeopardize his big deal....then and only then does it become an issue for that sales rep.
We can be real thankful for the fact that Cloverleaf's dependability and superior support services are known to be an industry leader and that will help them far more times then this scenario will ever hurt them. You are far more likely to get a salesman to break from the ranks, for fear of a risking a poorly supported component in his deal, which could cost him the whole enchilada, then some insignificant commission that we are only assuming he won't get.
This is just a non-issue, just like so many others that we beat to death while others can evaluate these non-issues, discount them as trivial and continue to drive the stock price up...Thank Goodness! |
