When the generally acknowledge thread guru (Paul Engel) on the INTC thread was asked:

"The biggest change being considered for the 1999 roadmap is a
proposal to shift completely to a two-year technology cycle for 70%
generation shrinks instead of the historical three-year cycles, something
that has been the basis of Moore's law since the 1970s."<<

How do you think this impacts Direct Rambus?

He responded:

bp - Re: "How do you think this impacts Direct Rambus? "

Computers will get FASTER at a "FASTER RATE".

This essentially accelerates the speed game, bringing forward in time the need for higher performance support circuitry - Chip Sets, Main Memory (RAMBUS), graphics chips, I/O controllers, etc.

Thus, RAMBUS should grow at a faster rate SOONER than they otherwise would have - assuming their technology remains dominant.
