Imagine yourself a market maker,with stop losses on your books.You also are long some amount of stock as "inventory" Dropping the stock to pick-up more inventory would have a negative impact on your current inventory.Not a big incentive to drop the stock. Now say a large buyer comes on the books.Your inventory might become depleted - may even need more. Incredibly the stock goes down ten points and no one can understand why.Low and Behold that nasty buyer comes by the next day and boy are we lucky- the stock recovers. Now let's put the CEO on CNBC.Of course this appointment on CNBC happened yesterday and nobody new he was scheduled to pump his firm up today.It sounds paranoid but to me if I was a MM and some milktoast told me where he wanted out - when demand for stock picked up, I'd accomodate him ,(and make a nice spread while I was making the market by providing equity to orderly trading). hehehehe Oh yea,the stock pops up the next day on a change of investor sentiment. Guard your money and keep your cards close to the chest ,as you play the game. JMHO Bob
