This case is not really about what MSFT has done to abuse its monopoly power (that is trivial); it is about the potential for abuse that exists if MSFT has control of the internet as the internet evolves into the main communications channel for business and various consumer groups. The eventual ruling will be whatever it takes to prevent MSFT from being the "toll collector" for the internet. The ruling will not directly hurt MSFT so much as it will prevent them from having a license to print money.

I don't think anyone has a clue now as to how this will play out. The current trial is just the first round. In the meantime, Mr. Softie has the money machine smoking.
