The economy of the 90's was essentially a bequest of the Reagan administration, as was the end of the Cold War. It is silly to say that Bill did it better, when he has largely played follow the leader with the Republican Congress, after his own major initiatives were derailed in the first two years of his administration. As for the remarks about race, it is contemptible to turn on the Republicans when the dixiecrats remain a substantial, if waning, bloc within the Democratic Party. On the state level, most politicians associated with the controversial Council of Conservative Citizens are Democrats. The Republican chairman has denounced the group, and called on all Republican officials to repudiate it. The Democrats have not yet followed suit.
