New Access Communications, located in Santa Barbara, California, is an innovative new start-up company in the field of optical networks. Founded in March of 1998, by Dr. Near Margalit, the inventor of the MetroFusion architecture, it is dedicated to bringing Dynamic DWDM to the local access loop. Dr. Margalit has a B.S. from Caltech in Applied Physics and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Santa Barbara in Optoelectronics, and has published over 30 papers in technical journals and conferences. The New Access team has members with specialty in data communications, hardware design, software protocols, and optoelectronic components. This cross-disciplinary team will enable tight integration of the varying aspect of the MetroFusion architecture.
