Overinflating tires is a way of getting more mileage in an economy
run, and this practice was in use for decades before the advent
of low rolling resistance tires. You seem to have gotten a lot more
mileage out of this fact than BAT International ever got, and you
would never have known about the overinflation if I hadn't told
you about it in a post last February. So far as pulse charging a VW
is concerned, Dolphin has quite a bit of experience in that area,
having produced more power at a lower RPM than a larger VW racing engine. The VW engine has some strange looking intake
manifolds that are shaped the opposite of a venturi. They flare out
under the carburetors, and then taper down to their original diameter.
They have some strange looking heliarc welding all over them,
as do the manifolds on the Porsche powered Magnum sports car.
More power, or more fuel economy can be achieved by working with
the lengths and volumes of the intake manifolds, in coordination with
the cam timing related to the opening and closing of the intake
valves. This has been standard hot rod speed tuning for decades.
