Chuzzlewit ... sorry you don't like my posts - all I can suggest is that you skip them in future. Thanks for the response though ... you're right - its tiresome posting to myself - wait till the IPO filing is completed ... I expect the thread will get rather more lively then !!.

As for your points - I believe that the real market place will continue to exist for quite a while and will be 'successful' short term ... but in low margin sectors, it may well be that many companies that sell things like books/software/CD's will go all cyber a la Egghead just because the contracting margins will require reduced overheads which means less bricks and mortar ... especially if marketshare flattens so the reduction in margins hits harder. Also, given the reduced capital for start-ups, cyber competition will increase. On the other hand, the leaders ...as long as they push their advantage, will continue to do well.

I haven't really thought about your second point ... its an interesting concept.... and it would be nice to think the repositioning of the company is driven by such foresight.

I read somewhere today that ecommerce might actually kill the economy because of effect on the high street retailers. Now that is scary ... but can be nipped in the bud if the Govt starts to apply a level tax playing field for ecommerce.

So much to think about .......

Regards

Stephen
