I think MSFT will lose in court. Then maybe the appeals court reverses, and the supreme court reverses them, so MSFT still loses.

What is at work, as someone else replied, is that the Internet sales, education, hookups, ebiz and so forth probably will turn out to be a large fraction of the total economy in a few years. MSFT (Gates) is not viewed as an appropriate steward and guardian for that. This business is just going to be too big for anyone intelligent to conceive of letting MSFT control it, and therefor, the economy of the world. Also, that is a job the gov wants, and should have, as there needs to be a referee.

Even if MSFT (Gates) were trusted for that, everyone can see how big this pie is now, and when MSFT decided to reach for the whole thing, the other guys decided to cut the hand off at the wrist.
