Interesting incident, but I can't help but compare and contrast to this:

That's what I was wondering. The person I am trying to figure out always acts nice, even when he doesn't really feel nice. He gets stuck in situations, and later complains. Whereas, I pretty much never get stuck in a situation, either I want to do it, or I say no. One factor is "embarrassment." I feel like the character in the story of the boy who could not shudder. I don't get the concept of "embarrassment." I don't understand it.

I was thinking, it must come from not wanting to act "not nice," not wanting to displease. Not wanting to cause a scene? Not wanting to disappoint? Not wanting to have the other person realize you are not as nice as you pretend to be?

Whereas, my lack of tact and social grace is legendary.
