Doug,

Lucent management has already stated that earnings would likely be unaffected due to the Ascend merger in 1999, and boosted by a few cents in 2000. Why do you think that you know more than they do? As for the stock price being lower at the time of the merger, I wouldn't count on it unless there is an overall market correction.
