For your sake keep the bottom line simple!
Every time a Sun embedded system developer sits down to
work he must have JENE (insgy) present on his machine!!

Sorry, but I have to agree with Charles and disagree with your analysis tying Jini and JENE.

I believe that JENE is a JVM based on the emulation technology that Insignia developed for Softwindows (they're emulating a bytecode machine instead of a 386). Jini sits on top of Java, which sits on top of any JVM, of which JENE is just one (albeit a fast one by all accounts). HP have an embedded JVM. There is even a free one called KAFFE. So Insignia don't have a lock on the market through their Patent. Also, Insignia, despite great technology, has singularly failed to execute over the past three years, and most of us here have been once burnt.
