Sorry to see the thread and Ericy in tatters Mardy. It's not good for anyone. But if L M Ericsson stops their current strategy of 'cyanide in the bunker' as their defence, bringing the country [Sweden] down with them and signs an extorquerationate licensing deal with Q! for cdmaOne and WWeb, then they will be able to get with the program and join the fun.

The fun has begun, but they aren't having much.

They will just have to swallow a huge cdmaOne upfront licence fee because they are the last to sign - you only get the cheap rates if you signed in 1990 or the subsequent few years. The latecomer who is wanting to climb onto a fast rolling wagon simply has to pay up large or be left behind [or be run over if they are standing in front].

Once they have swallowed that enormous and bitter pill, large, but much better than cyanide, they'll have cdmaOne power. They will be able to do a deal for infrastructure with Q! who could do with a hand on getting that moving. Ericy will have a clear path to WWeb action instead of being up the creek without a paddle.

Certainly they will be writing out some VERY big cheques to Q! but that's life in the fast lane. At least they will be able to get on with life and keep some cellular business 10 years from now. Maybe even regain lost ground.

If they stay in the bunker...well, it's no fun in a bunker.

Got any ideas Jeff? Any lobes clicking into gear?

Maurice

PS: Looks as though full-of-it ElMatador didn't have any case on WLL to back his weird weak soil in Asia theory. He couldn't come up with anything so ran away. I wonder where his self-designed and built WLL systems are. Maybe they fell over due to weak soil and badly designed foundations. But I'm all ears and amygdala in case he returns with some good points.
