Two years ago.. qualcomm.com
Says Eudora is okay for Apple Newton so they are sure to be aiming to do a little version for pdQ without all the unused bells and whistles. Most of which I haven't used on the mainframe and I'd never use them on a pdQ.

Also, here's an old [mistakenly dated January 1996 when it should have been January 1997] url showing an OEM deal with MSFT for bundling Eudora. The last paragraph, just before the boilerplate about Qualcomm, says:
"OEM and bundling agreements include industry leaders such as Microsoft, IBM, NETCOM and 3Com."

PS: While being nostalgic, Feb 1997, 2 years ago saw QPE ship it's millionth phone.

qualcomm.com

End of 1995 saw 5000 in use [Hong Kong and test sites]
End of 1996 saw 1 million in use [nearly all Qualcomm]
End of 1997 saw 7 million in use [from Samsung and others too].
End of 1998 saw 23 million [about] in use with Q having sold about 10 million of those. Maybe fewer as they would perhaps report their 10 millionth sale.
