Here's my take on this tennis match:
First off, I can feel tension in my neck as I watch this volley between Shawn, Andrew, Kevin, Dorothy...et al begin to format itself.
The match was destined to occur sooner or later and I have chosen to sit back and wait for it's arrival.
When Shawn started this thread, I do believe his intentions were aimed at assisting those who were tired of being "left out of the KNOW". Now as far as I'm concerned, if "THE KNOW" implies illegal inside information, well...say no more....it's silver bracelets for those involved. However, there are ways of obtaining knowlegeable insights/info on certain companies, and obviously Shawn has the "capability" to gather such information. It's blatently obvious why he cannot/will not relay the details of any one "pick". Let me ask all of you a question. If you "KNEW" that within the next two weeks Microsoft was going to merge with AOL, would you post this "fact" on SI and give all the sorted details of the merger, including key figures and dates? Of course you wouldnt. You'd gobble up as much Microsoft as you could, then the night before the "supposed" news release, you'd post a message that you've "heard", through your "source", that MSFT WILL BE a tasty treat come tomorrow a.m. . Now, if your "following" is/has always trusted your valued opinions, chances are they will all flock at once and place their bids. Now.....am I saying that this is Shawn's bag?.....absolutely not. But I KNOW this is what some here are "assuming".....and you've done all but come out and call Shawn a manipulator. I could be wrong , but this is what I'm feeling here.
I'm not here in defense of Shawn. I dont even know him...heck..he doesnt even respond to any of my questions/comments.....nor is that his "job". This is HIS thread. This is a direct quote:

These were Shawn's exact words. One may ask him/herself,..gee....but how can anyone be able to buy BEFORE the news? How can Shawn be able to "predict" price movement in any one particular security on any given day? I do not know. I do not ask...nor has anyone else. It is a question that will never be answered, and I for one would appreciate it if people would cease asking Shawn for "specifics". He posts what he "knows"....and it is up to us to read his post and act on his picks, or not. It's pretty black and white here. I do feel somewhat ill for those that follow Shawn's picks as if he were the Wall Street Messiah. He states time and time again that you must conduct your own due diligence, however...counterpoint here...his picks are "before the KNOW", therefore being out of the public eye. You WILL NOT find news on Yahoo or anywhere else for that matter. If that were the case, this thread would be non-existent. If that were the case, no one would make money trading on the free market, for EVERYONE would have access to the SAME news at the SAME time. This thread was ORIGINALLY intended for those wishing to gather NEWS BEFORE the NEWS. Do not ask how/why/when/if/what if/but you said/...it's all quite futile. Do NOT invest your hard earned monies in securities you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about. DO NOT follow one individual's "picks"...merely listen to them....mull it over....then GAMBLE, because that's exactly what it is you are doing. Do not think for one moment that Shawn KNOWS EVERYTHING about EVERY one of his picks. If that were the case, he would not be on SI.... rather on a deserted island someplace sipping on a Marguerita, being fanned by three polynesian women.
Well...that's my .02 worth. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT TOMORROW WILL BRING...NO ONE.
