johnd, are you applying for the job of Resident Thread Bear? The techs are retracing a bit, but it's not the end of the world. I've just given back 2.9% of the 13.1% ytd gain I had on my portfolio on Tuesday. If avoiding volatility was my intention I'd switch my allocation to bonds.

Imho, earnings reports from cpq, csco, aol, and dell will reignite the rocket. In fact, we may well see a ton of money swooping in tomorrow to buy the dip. Liquidity is too good for this market to tank right now.

Good luck in buying on a dip, but maybe today was it <g>.
