It occurred to me, away from the "heat of battle", that the characterization of Reagan as faded even by the standards set forth was defective. In the past year, the Public Broadcasting System and ABC have done major, and fairly positive, programs on Reagan. The second largest Federal office building (ironically) was dedicated as the Reagan Building, and National Airport was renamed the Ronald Reagan National Airport. A&E has aired biographies of both Reagans in the past couple of years, and the mantra among conservatives is to find a "new Reagan". I'm sure there are other examples that I am missing, but really the question is not one of current interest, but historical judgement. On that, my wager is that Reagan will be considered the greatest President of the 20th century, ironically again, after FDR.
