But I'm taking quite a pounding from others who don't necessarily agree that more Internet hits and downloads per unit time = $$$. I'll confess, I'm a scientist, not a businessman, so I guess I have to defer to those who are closer to this situation.

But I do believe in the black-and-white / color TV analogy; the printing press example is perhaps even more dramatic. And I also believe that when people can surf 50 times faster they will surf longer and do more business per session. I certainly know I did!

And as for the new users coming online, my company just upgraded their computers because of the Y2K bug, and I personally resold 7 units, at $100 each, to 7 new users, 2 of whom are senior citizens. 4 of these new users, including the senior citizens, definitely plan to upgrade to a new computer after they've had a chance to learn how a computer runs and what to look for.

I'm still optimistic, but question marks abound as well.
