David...Looks like this stock is going to be quite volatile.

I DID buy AOL a few years ago and sold for a small gain, but I wasn't planning on holding for a long time...it was a news-related play I believe.

I agree with you about Teddy. He has a lot at stake and wants to make a name for himself instead of being in his father's shadow. Teddy's in his middle 30's. I didn't know about his wife's father until I read this thread...a sad story. By the way I met his wife, Liz I think her name is, also very nice lady. Her sister married Rudy Theale, the founder of LocalNet. Yes, a soap opera underway! The other founder, Jim Palmer (family started SkyTel Paging), from what I hear is no longer involved, but I'll try to find that out for sure.

Teddy admitted at the Nov. 97 convention that he and his father hadn't been real close for some time, but he was trying to improve that. That doesn't say that Dad wasn't(isn't) behind the startup...I assumed he wasn't or he would have bailed them out before Compu-DAWN did IMO. As far as twisted pair goes, Teddy was involved with Zekko which was supposed to be developing TP...I think Teddy left sometime last year when the engineers kept giving him the run-around on their progress.
So Teddy was back to square one with respect to TP technology and I haven't heard anything since then on that subject. And TP was the only reason I got involved in LocalNet in the first place.

You may be right about the timing of the acquisition. I know it's been in the works for awhile, but these things take time.

I'll try to find out tomorrow or over the weekend. I haven't been keeping up to date until everything smoothed out.

I shall return with answers and hopefully shorter posts.
