<...I think at this point the company needs to convince the street that they can put good qtrs back to back>

Eric: I agree with you completely....that is exactly my point...we differ in whom should be the "Spokesman". When I was an Engineer (quite a few yrs ago) it wasn't difficult making presentations to staff. It was quite a bit different when I moved into Operations Mgmt.
Communicating in highly technical terms with the "Elephants" usually received the following response..."Mr. Kirby, please explain to me in language that I understand, preferable simple and to the point!". That would be the same advice that Eric B. should heed! Most Engineers, not all, lack Public Relations Skills. If you look back at the street's response whenever Eric B. speaks...the stock drops. This is similar to Patients being "turned off" by Doctors who failed to "listen" to their patients questions, and felt threatend whenever they were questioned! Analysts & investors want concise answers...no tap dancing! His response to the $75 stock price question should have been..."I think that it is quite possible to reach and exceed $75/sh if we continue with our present strategy!"...further more, "3com should increase in share value now that synergies are taking place!". If questions arise asking how that could be done...he needs to lead into the question by: cutting expenses, productivity, etc.etc.! Sorry for the lengthy post. I am sure we will be rewarded when the street pays more attention to the Chief Operating Officier.
