Paul,

Re; pigboy's problems trying to get the most out of his PC.

<< DO you have a separate DVD hardware card? >>

Yes.

<< If so, check to see if it has NTSC out - an RG 59 (?) connector - or a set of 3 RCA plugs labeled Video OUT (usually yellow) Audio Out Right (Red) and Audio Out Left (white). >>

I do not have an NTSC OUT nor any of the above, unfortunately. I only have what is called an SPiDIF for connecting my DVD to some super duper Stereo system, I suppose.

I have learned a lot in recent hours from a friend on IRQs...apparently Win98 only supports 15 of them at once and I may have them all booked up. From the keyboard to some controllers and timers I have no clue about to the DVD and Hard Drive, Zip, and modem ports, I have flooded the engine. Actually, thats a bad phrase, bc I believe it is the OS not the CPU that is the reason I cannot get what I want to make full use of this systems potential. I now get the feeling that I NEED a new video card (have one, and its an Nvidia 3d 8 MB AGP 2X and thats not bad, but apparently not the right spec to throw my vid across the room)?

thanks for any help, as always
pigboy
